The Calico Patch

What a wonderful beginning for Calico Quilters in 2009!  Both our meetings were well attended, and we're off to a great start with our planned activities, workshops and round robins.

I want to welcome our two new members, Serena Dennis and Carolyn Gann.  I hope you, as well as other members, take advantage of the many opportunities offered by the guild.

I want to thank those of you who shared your completed projects with us at the January Day Lilies Meeting.  That was indeed, an amazing Show and Tell segment!  Hopefully, many of us were motivated by the abundance of beautiful, completed quilts.

    Happy Stitching,

  Vivian

MARK THOSE CALENDARS-lots of good things happening.

4-Patch Variations

This exchange has officially started, please remember to read carefully what the quilter wants for each month.  Also place attach a note that has your name and the name of the block.

Round Robins

Let me first say that I am sorry for the confusion on when our round robins were to begin.  I was so happy to see that everyone is excited about them and ready to get started.  Just a couple of things that you may need to know:

*The most important thing is to have fun, and enjoy all the challenges

*Round Robins will not be exchanged at the picnic in July.

*Remember to make arrangements for passing your round robin if you can not attend the meetings, let me know if I can help.  I can pick up and drop off if you let me know ahead of time.  Or bring them to the Day Lilies meeting and I will take them to the Nite Owls for you.

*If for some reason you are unable to work on the round robin, please put a IOU in the container and bring it to the meetings to pass.  Please do not hold on to it for extra time.

*After you complete your work, please place a small note to your round/strip or block so that the person will know that you did that one.

Please note changes or additions:

Baltimore Beauties
Every 2nd Wed of the Month
10:00 am

February 11 - Jacque Johnston, she will provide lunch for us

March 11 - Nela

April 8 - Sharon Thompson

This open group meets on the 2nd Wed of each month in different members homes, anyone is welcome to come.  We meet at 10:00am and usually bring our own brown bag lunch and our hostess serves us ice tea or coffee and a dessert.  Our only activity is to just get together and sew, knit, crochet, mend socks, pass around favorite books or recipes and generally enjoy part of a day with each other.

Quilts of Valor

A huge thank you goes out to Sally DePerro and Jo Bacon for their work in promotion our QOV Project.  The Mammoth Rotary Club has donated $100 for postage.  THANK YOU SO MUCH.  A thank you card has been mailed.

Also, just a reminder that we will continue to collect 12-1/2 unfinished blocks for QOVs, please make them scrappy.

We still have some white backing if anyone needs it for a QOV, let me know and I will cut some for you.

STILL AT WAR-STILL QUILTING!!!

Books & Barnyard

Books & Barnyard - May 2, 2009

I've been getting alot of small stuffed animals! I haven't even counted them yet, but I know there are lots and lots of them. Along with stuffed animals we'll need lot of "Little Quilts" to go along with them. I have about 5 so far. The quilts should be no smaller than 18x24 and no larger than 36x45(the size of a yard of fabric). A BIG thanks to all that have contributed stuffed animals and the Little Quilts.
