Quilt Show News

I want to thank all those that signed up to be on the quilt show committee. Our first meeting will be mid January. We'll try to setup a date at the next meeting.

Committee chairs from the previous show (2004), please take a moment to jot down anything you think would be useful to pass along to the new chair. Such as location of supplies, observations, ideas, whatever. You can send them via email to Nela, or give them to me by the Christmas Party.

Marge Walker sold the most tickets during October and got to take "Peaches" for November. I think I'm feeling a little separation anxiety.

I've had a question about the handbag challenge: Can they be made by other methods such as knitting? And the answer is yes. You can make the body of the bag using any technique (knitting, crochet, piecing). Remember the other criteria is it must be able to hold items, have handles/straps of some sort, and have embellishments that interpret our show theme which is "Springtime Garden".

A Great Big Thank You to Nela

I want to thank Nela for her gracious donation of her beautiful quilt, Blooming Nine Patch, to the Adult Day Care Center for their raffle. The center made over $3,000.00 that will be put to very good use. Susan Dews won and she was so happy she was almost in tears when she found she won the quilt.

Thanks again Nela that was super!!!!

Thanks for the pose Jonathan!I placed an order for some stripped fabric with little children on it, but got this instead!

Baby Stockings Due

Just a reminder that baby stockings are due November 21st. You can bring them by Ben Franklin's. Everyone there loves to look at the stockings! Be sure to put my name on them. I called NIH and they expect 18 babies this holiday season. We currently have 24 stockings to give out (this number includes the 13 I've received so far this year). I would like to have over 30, so the mom's can have a nice selection to choose from. I've gotten some really cute stockings this year. Thanks again for all your wonderful stockings!

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!

Cabbage Rose, Curved piecing - Betty McCloud

This is a two part class and it is important to allow the full 2 hours especially for the first evening.

Six dyed fabrics all in one color but of shading from light to dark for the blossom, two greens for the leaves, a background fabric and a border are the fabrics needed.

This 16" block is all sewn by matching using soft curves to make the blossom look realistic.

Full supply list and sign-up sheets will be available at the next meetings and workshops. Any questions call Betty McCloud.
